regarding this topic:

Which I take to mean "do what's right, regardless of the consequences."

my sql update column as a word in php
I have a sql query like this one:
$query = "UPDATE $db_table SET column='$update' WHERE id='$id'";
$update is a word, I don't know how to convert it to a string and run the query.
A:
You can use single quotes to make sure the string gets expanded correctly.
$update = 'NewValue';
$query = "UPDATE $db_table SET column='$update' WHERE id='$id'";
